I love the bold flavors of Mexican and Latin American cuisine and I never fail to visit Latin American restaurants every now and then. Last Tuesday I got an opportunity to try the new traditional dishes- Mexicanos Tradicionales that were added to the extensive menu of Loca, the authentic Mexican restaurant and bar.
Loca is an award-winning Mexican restaurant and bar located in Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa in Jumeirah. It is a homegrown concept and also has a branch in Abu Dhabi. All the new dishes are handcrafted by the talented Mexican chef Juan Flores.
Loca offers variety of settings with a dining area, bar area, place to watch sports and a stage for live performance. Their outdoor terrace is perfect for al fresco dining in this pleasant weather.
Their beverage menu is as impressive as their food menu with a range of house spirits, 39 varieties of craft hops and delectable margaritas. We ordered a glass of Red Wine as our tipple for the evening.
Being vegetarians, we only had vegetarian dishes and loved the veggie options. We started with smooth and creamy Guacamole that was served with warm corn chips and salsa.
Next we had the nutrient-packed Ensalada De Nopales/cactus salad. It was fresh, healthy and tasty. The gooey looking cactus salad is worth trying.
Tlacoyos De Frijol Negro or handmade thick corn tortilla with savory filling was stuffed with beans, Mexican cheese, tomato and sour cream. It was a simple, hearty and wholesome dish.
We also liked the juicy and crunchy Tacos De Nopales. It had two corn tortillas filled with grilled nopales, queso fresco cheese and roast tomatillo sauce.
My personal favorite was Doradas De Queso Asadero or cheese pockets made with blue corn tortillas filled with Asadero cheese. It was comfort food at its best.
As our main course we had the delicious Fajitas with mixed veggies that was served with flour tortillas, Mexican rice, de la olla beans, sour cream and guacamole.
We ended our dinner with scrumptious Helado Frito. An indulgent fried ice cream with cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce.
Loved our dining experience at Loca, their new traditional dishes are loaded with exotic flavors and exquisite taste. Good Mexican food, great drinks, flawless service and lively atmosphere that sums up our Loca experience. Adios!
