Bay Square has become a foodie hub with many eclectic dining options in town. And I’ve become a frequent visitor here, trying out various restaurants. Yesterday, I visited one of the newest restaurant in Bay Square- Masala Pot.
Masala Pot is a casual dining Indian restaurant that offers chaats, Kebabs, curries, rotis, biryani and more. They also offer reasonably priced combos.
We loved the quirky-kitschy decor of the restaurant. It has a contemporary and edgy look. The vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant has a cool and inviting vibe.
As we were thirsty, we immediately ordered our drinks. We were recommended to try their signature drink- Paan Lemonade. And guess what, we ordered the Paan Lemonade. If you love paan flavor, you will definitely like this drink.
Before we could order our food, we were offered a complimentary platter of Salad, Poppadam and Chutney.
For starters, we ordered their Veg Platter. It consisted of Tandoori Gobi, Paneer Tikka and Sheekh Kebab. The Paneer Tikka and Seekh Kebab was well made, tasty and flavorful. The Tandoori Gobi had too much food coloring in it and we didn’t try it, as it didn’t look appetizing.
Next we ordered the main course. Dal Makhani had an amazing homemade flavor and taste, we loved it. Paneer Kadai had a rich and thick gravy made up of tomatoes, cream and veggies. It was tangy, moderately spicy and utterly delicious. The assorted Rotis or Indian bread went well with both the curries.
We were almost finishing our curry and roti, we were served Vegetable Biryani in a mason jar along with Raita, Veg Gravy and a small bottle of Lassi. The presentation was fabulous, but the biryani was a bit bland, wish it was bit more spicy! The Lassi was refreshing.
To sweeten our palate, we ordered Gulab Jamun, one of the most popular Indian dessert. It was served with syrup on the side, which I felt was a great idea.
We ended our dinner with a hot cup of aromatic Masala Chai. If you like Masala Chai, then you should try it at Masala Pot, it is awesome.
Overall, we had a good experience. We were impressed with their presentation of food. Few of the dishes require improvement. If you are in Business Bay or Bay Square, Masala Pot is worth a visit.
