With Ramadan just around the corner, Iftar previews have become a norm in my life. But this year I am going for a selected few.
When Monica of DoinDubai invited me to Iftar preview of ‘Ramadan Nights by Dish’ I clicked my heels with joy as I had heard great things about their Iftar last year and it was on my Dubai Iftar list for 2017.
Ramadan Nights by Dish is a unique and innovative pop up culinary Iftar experience by Dish Catering. The Iftar will happen every day from sunset onwards in Al Quoz‘s Warehouse Four during Ramadan.
Dish Catering is Dubai’s well known catering and event management company that was established nine years ago. Ramadan Nights by Dish is the second Iftar offering by Dish Catering after an amazing response last year.
Hear it in their own words about the ambience you can expect:
A mysterious pop up experience awaits you in this converted Al Quoz warehouse.
As the sun sets walk down a garden lane to find a red door.
Inside discover a romantic garden with Moroccan lounge furniture and candle lit tables.
Watch our chefs prepare our special Ramadan menu in our unique open plan show kitchen.
The Iftar preview happened in Monica’s beautiful home in Arabian Ranches. Dish Catering set up the whole thing from scratch. The place looked elegant and vibrant with carpets, Moroccan lounge furniture, flowers and candles.
Its a 3-course menu inspired by flavors of Middle East. The menu features a selection of Ramadan drinks, starters, main course and desserts along with dates, soup, bread and hot beverages.
We were a small bunch of bloggers who sampled the Iftar offering together. We started our meal with a selection of good quality Dates. There were 2 kinds of Ramadan drinks. I had the Lychee Juice, Middle Eastern Rose. It was a gorgeous looking drink that tasted great too.
As the only vegetarian in the group, I tried all their vegetarian dishes. And I am pretty impressed with their menu which I must say is vegetarian friendly.
Next, we were served Roasted Butternut Squash and Red Lentil Soup. It was garnished with toasted almonds, chilli and Argan oil. It was a super delicious soup.
Loved the silky Green Olive Hummus with pistachio, sesame and olive oil. I was so busy stuffing my face with the fab tasting hummus that I forgot to take a picture. It was served with a basket of Artisan Bread and crisp flat breads.
The next course was completely vegetarian. We were served Grilled Peach and Green Bean Salad with rocket leaves and orange blossom dressing, Torn Falafel Salad that had fried cauliflower, pine nuts, sumac in tahini dressing and Salt Baked Beetroot with zataar, sesame, mint, harissa labneh.
Each and every dish was deliciously different, perfectly done and had a distinct flavor. This second course is perfect for vegetarians.
My meat loving blogger buddies relished the Charcoal Chicken, Slow Braised Shoulder of Lamb in Middle Eastern spices with fragrant rice Pilaf and Tarator Style Salmon.
For desserts, you have a choice between – Citrus Mousse with pink grapefruit curd centre and citrus meringue. It was slightly tangy and not too sweet. But my favorite was the super indulgent and divine tasting Milk Chocolate and Coconut Crémeux with coconut chips, chocolate soil, passion fruit and vanilla compote.
Ended my Iftar with a hot cup of Tea.
I really enjoyed my contemporary Iftar experience. And would love to recommend Ramadan Nights by Dish for an eclectic, creative and innovative Iftar experience.
