Eating out in fine dining restaurants can get boring sometimes where the presentation of the dish is given more importance than the taste and flavor. So decided to visit a casual dining restaurant in the pocket friendly foodie hub of Dubai- Karama.
Mezbaan is an Indian restaurant specializing in Hyderabadi Cuisine. Its menu also features North Indian and Indian Chinese cuisine. They have four outlets in Dubai and one in Sharjah.
I visited their Karama outlet which had a complete makeover recently. The restaurant is spacious with a party hall upstairs. The decor of the restaurant is modern with an Indian touch. Dim lighting, bright interiors and old Bollywood music makes it appealing.
Our welcome drink was Paan Shots. It was a refreshing drink that tasted just like Paan.
Veg Talumein Soup is one of the popular Indo Chinese soup that is served in restaurants across India. This soup at Mezbaan was tasty but spicy.
The Paneer Papdi that I tried from their North Indian menu was crispy, non greasy and had balanced flavors.
From their Indian Chinese menu, we ordered Mixed Veg. It had crunchy vegetables in Schezwan sauce. It was ok, could have been better. I found it too oily.
For the main course, we ordered Palak with Mushroom. It had palak gravy with mushroom and other veggies topped with cream and julienned ginger. This was my favorite dish at Mezbaan. It was perfectly cooked and tasted utterly delicious.
Freshly baked Tandoori Roti was made with whole wheat flour and went well with the curry.
Vegetable Pulao was disappointing as it was tasteless and there was absolutely no flavor at all. It was served along with Raita.
For dessert, we had one of the specialty of Hyderabadi cuisine-Double Ka Meetha. It was super indulgent, rich and extremely delicious. A must-try dessert in Mezbaan.
My overall experience was good, but few dishes needs improvement. The service and the atmosphere was good. Mezbaan also does catering for all occasions. They do deliveries too.
