Royal Thali At Maharaja Bhog

Indian Thali Restaurant
Maharaja Bhog, the popular Indian vegetarian Thali restaurant recently opened a second outlet in Dubai. Indian vegetarian Thali is one my favorite meals. Having already visited their Karama outlet, I decided to visit their new outlet in Discovery Gardens.

Located at the Ground Floor of the Gardens 7 Building in Discovery Gardens, Maharaja Bhog is a spacious restaurant with ample seating area. More than the decor, the food does the talking here. I suggest that, you come hungry as there is too much to eat.

Thali is an entire meal that is served in a huge platter or Thali that consists of starters, main course and desserts. It is served mainly during the lunch time in India. You can have it in the night too. Every Indian state offers a different Thali. At Maharaja Bhog in Dubai, you can have a Rajasthani and Gujarati Thali. Rajasthan and Gujarat are 2 different states in India.

Maharaja Bhog’s menu changes every day. The Royal Thali features more than 30 dishes. You can expect a home style cooked food without any artificial preservatives. Each and every spice is handpicked and freshly prepared in-house.

Washing hands Indian style
Before serving the food, they get a jar of water and bowl for us to wash our hands on the spot. This ritual is again repeated, when we finish the meal.

Two drinks, Chaas and Sherbet was served, it is part of the Thali. Chaas is a tasty yogurt based drink that is good for digestion.

The Thali is served with condiments like Poppadums, Pickle, Salad, Chutney and Raita.

Vegetarian Thali in Dubai
We were served  Samosa, Dhokla, Usal Misal and Tindola Chips as our starters. For main course there was a selection of various Dals, Kadi, Vegetables and Roti(bread). Some of the must-tries from the Thali were Aloo Patal Bhaji, Rajma Masala, Gujarati Dal, Rajasthani Kadhi and Bajri Rotla. 2 varieties of rice was also offered, their warm Khichdi with ghee comes totally recommended. Corn Halwa and Basundi were the 2 desserts in the Thali.

All the dishes in the Thali that was served to us was delicious. The service was good, but can get a bit intimidating as the servers are always around to pile your plate with more food. The pricing is reasonable and affordable. All you need to do is bring a good appetite to enjoy their sumptuous vegetarian Thali.
