Thursday Curry Craze At Spices Restaurant

Spices
I don’t remember when was the last time I visited Al Mamzar area in Dubai. A visit to the Spices restaurant brought me to the quiet and lovely locality of Al Mamzar on a Thursday evening to attend their newly launched Indian theme night-Curry Craze.

Spices is located in the Movenpick Hotel Apartments in Al Mamzar. It is their all-day-dining restaurant offering international cuisine. They serve international buffet in the morning, afternoon and night. They also have an a la carte menu.

Colorful paintings
The restaurant is at the Lobby level of the hotel apartment. In front of the entrance of the restaurant is the inviting sight of spices. The restaurant has elegant and modern interiors. It is a spacious, bright and well lit restaurant. I especially loved the vibrant and colorful paintings and table runner.

Every Thursday evening from 6:30pm-11:00pm, Spices restaurant hosts an Indian themed night called the Curry Craze. You can expect an Indian themed buffet with some popular Indian dishes. The buffet has limited choices, but nevertheless it offers good selection.

Tomato Shorba
We started off with the refreshing Indian drink Chaas. And after that got ourselves the popular Indian soup Tomato Shorba from the buffet. The soup was tasty and flavorful.

Salad counter
Next, we visited the Salad Counter, the salad counter had Indian salads as well as international salads. It also had Arabic cold mezze dishes. We found some of the salads, a bit salty.

Paneer Tikka
Our favorite among the appetizers was the Paneer Tikka with mint chutney. The paneer tikka was soft, succulent and oh-so-delicious. There were non vegetarian starters like chicken tikka, mutton kebab and more.

Indian food
From the Main Course Counter, we tried most of the vegetarian curries like Dal Makhani, Palak Paneer and Veg Jalfarezi. All the curries were well cooked. Freshly baked Indian bread went well with curries.

The Dessert Counter had most of the famous Indian desserts like Gulab Jamun, Kheer, Rasmalai and Rasgulla. There were few cakes and Pastries as well as freshly cut fruits.

Overall, we had a good dining experience. The service and the ambience was great. On the food front, I wish they had more variety.
