Friday Brunch At Kris with a View

Kris with a View, Park Regis Dubai
Last week of September had me going back to the gorgeous Kris with a View, the signature restaurant of Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel. This time I was invited to the launch of their Friday Brunch-Taste of Asia

Honestly speaking, when I got the invite for the brunch, I thought it’s going to be one of those dreadful buffet brunches that happens everywhere- with too much food and too many cuisines. I was super delighted when they told me that it was going to be a 9 Course Set menu. No walking around to the buffet counters, each course will be delivered to our table. And our Friday brunch was so relaxed that we stayed longer than we had planned.

Kris with a View is located on the 19th floor of the hotel and offers 360 degree breathtaking panoramic views of Dubai. The setting of the restaurant-from the decor to the furniture and tableware is elegant and classy. The venue is spacious.

As Kris with a View is a Pan-Asian Restaurant offering selections of cuisine based on the Asian spice trail from Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, China, India and Arabia, you can expect the same Asian theme in the 9 course Friday brunch menu.

After Hubs and I were seated near the window table, we were handed their 9 course set menu. Whether you are a vegetarian or a non vegetarian, you will not be disappointed. As we are vegetarians, we opted for the 9 course vegetarian set menu.

Pandan & Coconut slush
While we were enjoying the upbeat music played by the DJ, we were offered welcome drinks. It was Pandan & Coconut Slush. Can’t think of starting our Friday noon, than with this super cool and delicious drink.

Vegetarian Salads
Salad Sampler was the first course. It consisted of  Green Mango and long bean salad, Malay Rojak salad and Chana chaat. Thai, Malaysian and Indian salads respectively. Each of them had one thing in common-they were packed with flavor. The portion size was perfect.

Maki and Nigiri
The next course was Sushi. We got Chef’s selection of Maki and Nigiri with wasabi and pickled ginger. This course was outstanding. It was so delicious that, it had us craving for more.

Thai Tom Yum Pak
The third course was the Soup. We were given 4 choices and we chose the Thai Tom Yum Pak. It was an exotic broth like soup with veggies and lemon grass.

Hot appetizers
The Hot Appetizers arrived next. The selection that we were offered were amazing. There was Golden Taro cake, Chinese Vegetable dumplings, Japanese Veg Tempura, Paneer Satay, Indian Samosas and Shammi Koftas. The platter was presented beautifully. I can’t find fault with any one of the hot appetizers. It was fantastic.

Fried Noodles, Phad Thai Pak
The next course was Fried Noodles. We were given 3 choices. While I opted for Phad Thai Pak, Hubs opted for Bee Hoon Goreng. The Phad Thai Pak  was well made, flavorful and tasty. The Bee Hoon Goreng wasn’t that great, it was a bit too oily and sticky.

Green Tea Sorbet
As a palate cleanser, we were served Green Tea Sorbet by the chef himself. I am a huge fan of green tea and the green tea sorbet at Kris was excellent.

Vegetarian Main course
For Main course, we were served Thai basil tofu, Szechuan crispy cauliflower, Shiitake mushroom teriyaki, Rendang vegetable balls, Mixed tandoori paneer and Vegetable Fried rice. All the dishes were well cooked and comes totally recommended.

Goan curry, Potato curry, Vegetable curry
Trio of Classic Curry was the eighth course. It consisted of  Thai green sweet potato curry, Goan stuffed aloo tikki curry and Massaman vegetable curry. It was served along with Indian Naan bread. We liked all the curries, but our favorite was the Goan curry. It had well balanced and great flavor. We relished digging into it.

Sweet selection
The last and the most awaited course was the Dessert selection. And what a delicious selection it was-Asian Crème brûlée, Exotic fresh fruits, Red bean steamed cake, Pandan meringue and Chilli chocolate cake. Each and every dessert was unique and tasty in their own way.

Overall, we had a wonderful Friday brunch experience. The food, the drinks, the service, the ambience and the music was fabulous. We had such a relaxed brunch. Definitely, recommend the Friday brunch at Kris with a View.
