Last week I was invited to the media Iftar at Flavours Restaurant at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham at The Walk, JBR. It was a great evening with good food and good company. If you’re looking for a reasonable Iftar buffet option this Ramadan, you should definitely consider Flavours at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham.
Flavours is an all day dining restaurant, that is located on the Plaza Level with easy access to the hip and happening JBR Walk. Flavours serves sumptuous breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. They also offer a la carte options.
During the holy month of Ramadan they serve Iftar buffet at sunset. The Iftar buffet is reasonably priced at AED 95 per person, inclusive of Ramadan juices and soft drinks.
As it was a media Iftar, the restaurant was pretty crowded and we had to wait for a few minutes to get our table.
Flavours is a family friendly restaurant with a modern decor. The ambience is bright and cheerful. The buffet stations are centrally located.
As soon as you enter the restaurant you get the welcoming sight of Iftar essentials like dates, dry fruits and Arabic coffee.
They serve all the traditional Ramadan drinks like Jallab, Tamer Hindi, Laban Aryan and Kamardin apart from the fresh juices and soft drinks.
The Iftar buffet had a wide range of dishes from Arabic cuisine as well as a selection of international dishes. We ditched the soup and went for the salads. Cream of Mushroom was the soup of the buffet. It looked good, but we had too many Ramadan drinks and hence opted not to go for the soup.
The Iftar buffet offered a good variety of salads, starters, cold and hot Arabic mezze, breads, mixed grill, main course and desserts. Some of the outstanding dishes were the Couscous Salad, Srilankan veggie salad with eggs, Cheese Sambousek, Spinach fatayer, Potato Lynonnaise, Baked hammour with lemon butter sauce, Lamb Ouzi and Vegetable biryani.
The best part of the buffet was the dessert counter. It had assorted Arabic sweets and a good selection of international desserts. Not only did the desserts looked gorgeous, they tasted great too. We tried a little bit of everything and it was fantastic. This is one place where I would have the desserts first and would try the other dishes later. Their desserts come totally recommended.
Overall, we had a good experience.
