With the holy month of Ramadan upon us, we have plenty of Iftar options offered to us around the city. Layali Zaman at Falcon Ballroom in the popular Le Meridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre was one of the Iftars that I was invited to recently.
The Iftar at Layali Zaman is presented in a majlis-style setting with interactive cooking stations, Shisha selections and live entertainment. You can expect all the traditional favorites as well as a selection of international dishes.
The meaning of Layali Zaman is olden days in Arabic and likewise the place oozes of old world charm. The spacious place can fit up to 400 people. The decor is tastefully done up in Arabic style with dim lighting. It is a family friendly venue, and makes a perfect choice to break your fast with family and friends.
Our table was filled with all the Iftar essentials like dates and dryfruits. The Iftar is inclusive of Ramadan drinks and juices as well as the hot beverages like coffee and tea.
The traditional Ramadan drinks consisted of all the Ramadan favorites like Jallab, Tamer Hindi, Laban Aryan, Kamardin and Rooh Afza.
The buffet had a good selection of soups, salads, cold and hot mezze, lamb Ouzi(Ramadan staple), carving station, shawarma, mixed grill, good selection of main course and desserts.
We tried a little bit of everything and it was good. We liked the fact that the food was hot, fresh and flavorful.
The main attraction of the dessert counter was the chocolate fountain with various kinds of dipping like cut fruits, cakes, cookies and marshmallows. Dessert highlights included the sticky date pudding, umm Ali, Kunafa, Baklawa, cheesecake, mango passion and chocolate cake.
We ended our Iftar with a refreshing cup of Moroccan tea.
Overall, we had a great Ramadan experience-the food, the hospitality and the ambience was top notch.
