Pizza Express Live Jazz Nights at JBR

Pizza Express completed fifty years, so to celebrate its 50th Anniversary, they have launched a pop up jazz restaurant at The Walk on JBR. The pop up restaurant is located between Paul Cafe and Spanish Steps. The celebrations had started from 4th February and lasts till 27th February.

Every night there will be live performances by renowned jazz artists like Rachael Calladine and Abri & Funk Radius along with a band.

I was invited to experience an evening of  pizza ,jazz, funk and soul. So off I went with my hubby on a Thursday evening to dine under the stars and soak in the jazz music.

We have been to Pizza Express outlet at the Trade Centre area. So food wise we knew what to expect. The menu is same as the other Pizza Express outlets, but the variety offered is less as it is a pop up restaurant.

The seating is outside and the furniture is basic-with small wooden tables and iron chairs. There is a big stage for live performances. The place is lively. Perfect for the Dubai winters.

We started off with fresh watermelon juice. We had Fungotto  as our appetizer. I love the Fungotto at Pizza Express- it has freshly baked mini bread topped with portobello mushroom stuffed with cheese.

As for our mains we had the large Giardiniera pizza. It is a thin crust pizza with a medley of vegetable toppings with mozzarella cheese, garlic oil and fresh pesto sauce. It was excellent. As we had a large pizza, we were already full and didn’t bother to order any other main course.

But then again, we always have room for desserts.  We ordered their popular Chocolate Fudge Cake. It tastes heavenly, don’t ever leave the place without ordering this decadent cake.

We ended our evening with a hot cup of cappuccino. Al fresco dining with live jazz music in this perfect weather, February can’t be better than this.

Celebrations run from the 4th-27th February

Live music-6pm to 10pm on weekdays

                      6pm to 10:30pm on weekends
