A week ago I visited Highway 311 for lunch with my family. Located on the promenade level of MAG 214 Tower in Cluster R at JLT, Highway 3ll serves Latin American street food from different Latino countries.
As the restaurant was highly recommended by my close friends, I had great expectations and Highway 311 certainly didn’t disappoint. We went on a culinary journey to diverse Latin American countries from Mexico to Chile and everywhere in between,
The concept of Highway 311 according to their team:
Our love for Latin American cuisine and in fact everything Latino stems from our extensive travels globally. We fell in love with the region, its people, culture and traditions.
This said, Latin American street food became our passion and drive. Between Mexico in the north and Chile in the south, the flavors are as surprising and diverse as the prisms of a rainbow in a rainy day.
The Latino-inspired interiors of the restaurant is colorful, charming and carnival-like. It oozes positivity and passion. The highlight of the venue is the vibrant mural on the wall created by a Latino artist. It has an outdoor dining area as well.
The menu at Highway 311 is elaborate and there is something for everyone. If you’re a vegetarian like me, you won’t be disappointed. But I’m must admit that the veggie options were limited.
We started off with the spicy Citric-Pepper Spiced Strawberry and refreshing Limean Lemonade to drink. While we were sipping on our drinks, we were served complimentary bowls of Nachos and Salsa.
Few of the dishes that we ordered were:
- Nachos Veg had homemade tortilla chips with various condiments, melted cheddar cheese, dollop of sour cream and guacamole. It was comfort food in a plate.
- Tacos Vegetarianos was utterly delicious and flavorful. The best veggie taco I’ve had in Dubai till now.
- Arepas Vegetarianas was a meal in itself, so we had it for main course. Arepas are mostly used in Columbian and Venezuelan cuisine. They are patties made of pre-cooked cornmeal and stuffed with meat or veggies. It was heavy but worth trying.
- Classic Burrito was simple, fresh, well-made and tasty. It was served with a side of sour cream.
- We ordered Arroz Chaufa as our side dish. It was a good combination of Peruvian-Chinese fried rice.
We ended our lunch with two of their signature desserts. Très Lèche was super moist, light and fluffy. The Churros which had a filling of Nutella was sinfully delicious. We could make a trip all the way to JLT just to have their Churros.
We absolutely loved our culinary experience at Highway 311. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere and the service is top notch. If you haven’t visited them already, please do and you will be pleasantly surprised by this Latino hidden gem in JLT.
