This afternoon I was craving for flavorsome Asian food and decided to visit the recently opened Wok’s Den for lunch. At Wok’s Den, they offer Asian cuisine from Thailand, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, Japan, and Indonesia along with Indo-Chinese food.
Set in the lovely neighborhood of Jumeirah, Wok’s Den is a small and cosy restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining area. This modern industrial-inspired venue has a colorful mural of a giant Chinese dragon across the wall and a glass enclosed open-kitchen.
Master the fire and own the taste is their motto.
Wok’s Den has an extensive menu and one of their menu highlights is the Make-your-own-wok where we can choose from their wide range of ingredients, sauces, protein, veggies, meat etc and create our own Asian masterpiece.
As a vegetarian, I was happy with the veg options in their menu. We started with two of their rejuvenating mocktails- Ginger Punch and Watermelon Cooler.
Appetizers
Delicious Dragon Tofu is a must-try for all tofu lovers. It had crispy fried tofu in a bed of lettuce in their signature dragon sauce.
Stir Fried Momos were spicy and packed with amazing flavor as the fried Momos were tossed in spicy Szechuan sauce. Another must-try at Wok’s Den.
Make Your Own Wok
We got creative and made our own dish with Ramen noodles as the base, tofu as the protein with veggies, Kung Pao sauce and crushed peanuts. It was comfort in a bowl.
Mains
Veg Burnt Garlic Stir Fry was fresh but missing in flavor and taste. But the Mumbai-style Triple Szechuan Fried Rice that had a combination of rice and noodles tossed in Manchurian sauce was utterly tasty. It also came with vegetarian gravy in the side. We also ordered Vegetable Fried Rice.
Dessert
They only have Fried Ice Cream in their menu and so not much choice when it comes to desserts. We ordered the Fried Ice Cream with coconut which was simple yet delightful.
Wok’s Den surprised us with really good food and we wouldn’t hesitate to visit them again. If you’re in and around Jumeirah neighborhood then it is worth checking them out.
