Gypsy Chinese Restaurant is a well known Indian Chinese restaurant from the city of Mumbai. They have opened their first international outlet in Dubai.
Located in the Ground Level of Grand Excelsior Hotel in Mankhool, Gypsy Chinese is a casual dining restaurant with an elaborate menu with good options for vegetarians and non vegetarians.
The interiors of this restaurant requires a lot of improvement as the place is too dark and dingy. The restaurant is not very big and it also has a separate bar area.
After being seated, we ordered couple of mocktails- Strawberry Mojito and an Apple based mocktail. The Strawberry Mojito was refreshing and we didn’t like the Apple drink. The restaurant also serves alcohol.
Manchow Soup was thick, flavorful and spicy with finely chopped veggies, tomato and coriander garnished with crispy noodles.
Crispy Corn Pepper Chilli was amazing and addictive. The fresh corn kernels were crispy fried and tossed with pepper, green chilli and spring onion.
Paneer Twin Pepper was another starter that we liked. Paneer was tossed in chilli oil with crushed pepper, vinegar, green and red bell peppers.
Holy Basil Vegetables was a light and tasty gravy based dish with crunchy veggies tossed in basil and garlic sauce.
Vegetables in Burnt Chilli Sauce was hands down our favorite dish of our dinner. It had an assortment of veggies blended in their special burnt chilli sauce.
My friend tried their Prawns Hot Garlic which had fresh prawns stir fried in their special hot garlic sauce. She loved it.
Simple and delicious Vegetable Fried Rice went well with all the curries that we ordered.
Chocolate Brownie Sizzler was served hot on a sizzler plate with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was lip smackingly delicious.
Overall, we had a good dining experience. The food was good, but it was a bit oily. The service was quick and helpful. They also do home deliveries. On weekends it would be a good idea to book a table as it really gets crowded.
