Tresind’s Summer Menu – A Must Try

Tresind is a place where culinary dreams are made of. If I have to use one word to describe my experience at Tresind, it would be unforgettable. This restaurant has been in Dubai for one and a half years and it has already won the major awards, including the Zomato Highest Rated Restaurant Award, Timeout Award and the Masala Award.

Located on level 2 of  Nassima Royal Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, Tresind is a modern Indian restaurant offering a glamorous take on Indian cuisine. Be ready to be dazzled by the live theatrics and magic of molecular gastronomy. The Tresind experience will leave you enchanted.

The decor of Tresind is contemporary, chic and classy. The interiors are done up tastefully. It also offers a great view of the Sheikh Zayed road. The restaurant has a main dining area as well as a bar and lounge.  Tresind is fronted by the young and dynamic chef  Himanshu Saini, I also had the honor of chatting with him.

I had visited Tresind for a business lunch, over a year ago and this time when I was invited to review their summer menu, I was thrilled. Let me begin my gastronomic journey.

My hubby was my dining partner on this food adventure. We started off with a round of drinks. We tried 4 of their 5 cocktail drinks from the summer menu-Caribbean Pirate, Scottish on the Rose, Indian Summer and Italian Espresso.

Caribbean Pirate had a concoction of 4 different types of rum and berry liqueur. If you love a strong cocktail, then definitely this drink is for you.

Scottish on the Rose was a refreshing drink. It had a mix of coriander and cucumber with Hendricks gin and rose petals.

Indian Summer is my favorite drink for summer. It is a gin based drink with fresh pomegranate juice, lemon juice and chaat masala.

Italian Espresso was our after dinner drink. It was a mix of  strong freshly brewed espresso martini with vodka.

We tried the summer menu(vegetarian).

Amuse Bouche:

Deconstructed Pani Puri is a spherical Jello shot with pani puri flavor. Great way to kickstart our dining adventure at Tresind.

Zaatar Pav with Pindi Channa Hummus and Sundried tomatoes & olives was a creative twist to the usual hummus. Sundried tomatoes and olives added a tasty and spicy flavor.

Starters:

Salad was light and crunchy. We had the Bombay kachumber cream, olive crumble and lettuce leaves salad. The cream which was smooth was made with avocado.

Modernist Chaat Trolley  is very popular at Tresind. The chaat trolley was wheeled in to our table to create their signature modernist chaat. You can expect theatrical flair by the chef and the result is outstanding. Our taste buds went on an adventure.

Tandoori Portobello Steak was served in a molcajete with spicy chimichurri chutney and rosemary perfume. Loved it.

Vada Pao Pan Pizza was a great twist to the humble Vada Pav. It was flavorful, spicy and delicious.

Khandvi Sorbet was served to us as palate cleanser. I am not a big fan of Khandvi, but the sorbet was amazing.

Main course:

Paneer Cafreal was served hot with fresh green peppercorn. The Cafreal was quite similar to the Portuguese peri peri sauce. The paneer had absorbed all the flavors and it was soft and succulent.

Potato Sphere Dahi Kebab came with a bed of smoked muhammara. It was a great blend of Indian and Arabic cuisine.

Moroccan chickpea Tajine, ‘Channa Bhatura’ was a Moroccan take on the classic Channa Bhatura. I had never seen such gorgeous looking Channa before. It tasted better than it looked. The fluffy, non greasy puris went well with it.

Veggie Kofta with Burrata in Makhani Curry was another winner. It had well balanced flavor and was rich in taste. The creamy Burrata enhanced the taste of the curry.

We were also served soft and freshly baked Indian bread.

Dessert:

Daulat Ki Chaat had sohn papdi crumble, condensed milk foam and was dusted with 24 carat gold dust. It was rich, creamy and deliciously divine. Hands down, one of the best desserts in Dubai.

Shredded Baklava was too sweet. This was the only dish we didn’t like.Shredded baklava was served on a bed of soft serve pistachio ice cream and orange blossom honey.

Just when we thought we are done with dinner, out comes the tiny bus laden with Paan Cotton Candy(paan flavored cotton candy).  How cute is that.

Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience. The food and drinks were excellent. The service was top notch and the atmosphere is relaxed. If you appreciate finer things in life, then definitely Tresind is the place for you. If you live in Dubai and not experienced the Tresind magic, then you are missing out on something extraordinary. I would even recommend tourists to visit Tresind.
