With so many international restaurant chains launching in the UAE, we are spoilt for choice. Recently Joe’s Crab Shack opened it’s first outlet outside of the USA at Dubai.
Joe’s Crab Shack is a casual American seafood chain. It is a beach themed restaurant known for it’s family friendly atmosphere and lively vibe. A place to satisfy your crabby cravings.
The Dubai branch of Joe’s Crab Shack is located on the second floor of The Dubai Mall, next to the aquarium. I was invited for the grand opening on 28th of October.
The atmosphere is friendly, lively and relaxed. I would say their ambience is very different compared to other seafood restaurants in Dubai. Different in a good way. It has surfboards and seafood themed captions on the wall. I felt like I was at a beach shack and not in a mall, how cool is that!
The restaurant is well lit and vibrant with peppy music. It has a laid back feel to it. Loved the colorful t-shirts of the friendly staff. It is definitely a place for the whole family.
The beverage list consists of soft drinks, coffee, flavored iced tea, lemonade and fresh orange juice. But I would definitely want to recommend their creative mocktails, especially the Pineapple Pina Colada and Shark Bite.
The Shark Bite has orange and citrus juices with a dash of blueberry flavor and it comes in a huge glass with a small toy shark attached to it in the side with a test tube in it’s mouth, filled with grenadine syrup. While drinking just pour the grenadine. It is their signature drink. Yes, you get to take the shark home. The drink tastes good but it is quite sweet.
Joe’s Crab Shack offers a great variety of seafood. My blogger friends recommend their Redfish ‘n ‘ Lobster, buckets of Crab and steam pot.
My review always has a vegetarian perspective. Is Joe’s Crab Shack vegetarian friendly? The answer is yes. But the choice is very limited. Was it good? Let’s find out!
I had Mozzarella sticks with ranch dressing as my starter. This crispy golden brown stick holds melted cheese inside and it was tasty and just melted in my mouth.
The have couple of vegetarian salad in their menu. I had the Caesar salad without chicken. It was the regular kind, that you find everywhere.
Most of their side dishes are vegetarian.
I had vegetable taco for my main course. It had veggies like tomatoes, cabbage, cilantro and onion with fresh salsa and avocado lime dressing. It was served with Tortilla chips, typical Tex-Mex fare.
The portions are huge. I was already full, but their desserts looked irresistible and worth the calories I was going to gain. So what the heck, I rather have my dessert and miss the dinner.
I would like to name the dessert as Heavenly Bliss, though the actual name is Campfire S’mores. It was excellent. It had a huge slice of chocolate cake between two crispy Graham crackers topped with Hershey’s chocolate bar and freshly toasted marshmallows. A definite must try at Joe’s Crab Shack.
